Welcome to Life on the Hill
From the crown of the Northeast Kingdom, where the goats own the view.
From the crown of the Northeast Kingdom, where the goats own the view.
Tucked away on a quiet hilltop overlooking the NEK, Humble Roots Farm was founded with a devotion to sustainable farming practices and compassionate animal husbandry.
In 2020, we began restoring our property with a longterm vision for ecological health. Through selective logging, we created a silvopasture and planted more than 230 native trees and shrubs. We revitalized the soil by seeding native wildflowers, legumes, and grasses, adding new species each year to promote biodiversity and ecological balance. Today, our focus remains on soil regeneration through rotational grazing and biodynamic gardening, nurturing a balanced ecosystem where land and livestock feed each other. Every decision we make reflects our commitment to building a resilient, living system that benefits animals, plants, soil, and community.
As first generation farmers, this journey has truly been a labor of love and continues to evolve every day. We invite you to follow along as we grow and work toward our dream of becoming a small family owned creamery, rooted in the heart of the Northeast Kingdom.
We’re proud to offer clean-tested raw goat milk from our registered LaMancha and Saanen dairy goats, produced under strict standards as a Tier 1 Vermont milk producer. Our raw milk reflects our deep commitment to sustainable farming and community health, blending traditional care with modern safety practices to bring fresh, nourishing milk straight from our pasture to your table.
Our Rainbow Egg project is a vibrant part of the farm, featuring colorful hatching eggs bred over generations for their unique patterns and hues. These eggs are perfect for anyone looking to add healthy, lively birds to their flock or start a backyard poultry project full of personality.
Inspired by the natural world around us, we carefully craft soaps and lotions using simple, responsibly harvested ingredients sourced from both our farm and ethically foraged wild plants. In addition, our love for dogs led us to develop a line of natural pet products, with a portion of proceeds supporting animal rescues and volunteer work, extending our care beyond the farm.
Throughout the growing season, we also offer fresh vegetables, flowers, and other farm treats, sharing the best of Vermont’s bounty with our community. And we’re thrilled to share that a creamery is coming soon to Humble Roots Farm, an exciting step toward expanding our sustainable dairy offerings and nurturing both our dreams and our community here in rural Northeastern Vermont.
