A Humble Beginning...
Tucked away on a quiet hilltop overlooking the NEK, Humble Roots Farm was founded with a devotion to sustainable farming practices and compassionate animal husbandry.
When we bought our cabin in 2020, the property was tangled with overgrowth and dying forest. We began restoring the land through selective logging and planting more than 230 native trees and shrubs. To bring vitality back to the soil, we seeded native wildflowers, legumes, and grasses, and add new species each year to encourage biodiversity and ecological balance. Today, our focus remains on soil regeneration through rotational grazing and biodynamic gardening, nurturing a balanced ecosystem where land and livestock feed each other.
Our journey with dairy goats began in 2021. Our deep commitment to raising healthy, well-conformed animals that excel in dairy strength laid the groundwork for our small-scale dairy operation. Since then, we’ve grown to include a rainbow hatching egg project, handcrafted skincare made with farm-grown and ethically foraged wild plants, and homemade dog treats.
Our Offerings
Rainbow Hatching Eggs
Our Rainbow Egg project features multiple generations of carefully backcrossed birds, selected for their vibrant hues, distinctive speckles, and unique bloom patterns. The diverse flock includes BC Olive Eggers, Welsummers, Buff Orpingtons, Ameraucanas, Red Tailed and Black Copper Marans, Ayam Cemani, and Cream Legbars, each bred back to an Ameraucana or BC Olive Egger rooster to enhance and deepen both color intensity and overall quality.
Handcrafted Products, Skincare & Soap
At Humble Roots, we believe life and skincare should be simple. Our products are handcrafted using minimally processed ingredients, mostly sourced straight from the wild or grown on our farm.
Inspired by our love for dogs, we created a unique range of natural pet products. A portion of all proceeds are donated to animal rescues and fund our continued volunteering efforts.
Raw Goat Milk
We take great pride in providing raw goat milk from our registered LaMancha and Saanen dairy goats. Our milk is clean-tested and produced under strict standards to ensure the highest quality and safety. As a Tier 1 milk producer in Vermont, we operate fully within legal guidelines. Our raw milk reflects our commitment to responsible, sustainable farming and the health of the community.
Our breeding program prioritizes correct structure, strong mammary systems, and proven milk production to consistently improve each generation.
